Technovation is World’s largest and longest running tech competition for girls. Every year Technovation invites teams of girls from all over the world to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real world problem. Girl’s ages 10 to 18 learn to identify a problem in their community and create a mobile app solution to address that problem, and learn how to communicate these ideas and translate them into a fully launched business.
At this year’s Technovation challenge, three teams were represented by OmniCoders. The apps made by the girls include:
Ware: Created by team “Girls of Wisdom”. The app aggregates data collected from Traffic during different incidents to help policy makers, Insurance companies and court in their decision making.
Virago: Created by team "Steganographists". The app helps women and young girls to make self breast cancer checkups.
Pharmasearch: Created by team "Amde Hams". The app allows people to search for a particular medicine from all registered pharmacies in Addis Ababa. This app helps to save lives of people by letting anyone find prescribed medicines easily.
These teams pitched their ideas along with their Business plan for a panel of judges along with other contestants.
Team Steganographists’s App Virago was selected among the top 3 best Apps from the Competition.
